Italian luxury fashion brand, Emporio Armani, is starting to make its way into the wearable market with the launch of their hybrid smartwatch collection. At this very point of time, things do not look very good for the smartwatch market. The number of smartwatches shipped during the third quarter declined 52 percent compared with the same July-to-September period last year, according to a report by IDC wearables analysts.
Armani’s entry might or might not be a gamble by the Italian brand but the hybrid watches by the fashion brand definitely have their USP and will be a hit among a specific section of takers.
Armani Launches Latest Hybrid Smartwatch:
“Today, technology decisively influences our daily lives. There’s an app for everything, and I find that in many cases they’re inventions that actually improve our lives.”
The watches will resemble the house’s traditional timepieces, coming in a choice of rose gold tone, black, gunmetal, and stainless steel, featuring the Emporio Armani character on the face and offering either a three-piece link or leather strap.
Technological features incorporated in the hybrid smartwatches will be automatically changing time zones, activity and sleep tracking facilities, a camera, an alarm and the ability to control music playing on the corresponding smartphone, as well as notifications for calls and messages.
The smart wearable will sport quartz batteries to eliminate the need to recharge and help locating a lost phone, among other features.
Starting at $250 to $400, depending on the model, the watches are available in rose-gold tone, black, gunmetal and stainless steel, with a three-piece link or leather strap. The Emporio Armani Connected line of hybrid smartwatches is now available in both offline and online platforms.
